Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its response. Carson City Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email sent to us may be retained long enough to respond and maintain the related correspondence. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a binding legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the site’s systems automatically receive basic technical and usage details:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Visited pages and the time spent on them
- Device type and operating system
- Browser type and version
- The device’s assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. This site uses them with analytics services to combine traffic data, measure popular pages, and identify where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, although doing so may change how some features function.
What We Do With This Data
- Delivering search requests to the selected partner
- Maintaining site availability and performance
- Finding and resolving technical faults
- Measuring which pages are useful or need improvement
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Carson City Criminal History does not build, keep, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It provides general directions to records held by Carson City Sheriff’s Office, local court clerks, the Nevada State Police RCCD Records Bureau, and the Nevada Public Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or dossiers about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that company’s privacy policy rather than this policy. Each partner decides how long to retain data and when to share it, and those choices are outside our control. Review the applicable partner policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Carson City Sheriff’s Office pages, court resources, Nevada agency sites, legal-aid organizations, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows an external link, the destination’s privacy terms apply. Those terms should be read before personal details are provided.
Some advertising providers may use activity across websites to select targeted ads. That process takes place through the provider’s systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Information may still be disclosed to the following limited recipients:
- Government bodies or law enforcement when a valid legal order compels disclosure
- Advertising networks that serve ads on the pages
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process a visitor’s chosen query
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected data. No internet-connected service can guarantee perfect security, so these measures cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If such information is identified, it will be removed upon a valid request.
Your Data Rights
Rights can vary with a visitor’s location and the law that applies. Nevada’s Public Records Act, NRS Chapter 239, concerns access to government records, while NRS Chapter 179A governs criminal-history collection, inspection, and dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. Where applicable privacy law grants a right, a visitor may:
- Opt out of certain forms of processing
- Request deletion of eligible personal data
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected
- Request a copy of personal data held about the visitor
Updates to This Policy
This privacy policy may be revised. A changed version becomes available on this page and carries a new effective date, so visitors should review it periodically.
